AND THE AWARDS GO TO…
Fri, Mar 17 2023
This year, 34 Adelaide Fringe Award Winners have been announced, with a total prize pool of over $75,000.
This morning Adelaide Fringe announced the winners of 34 awards, with Principal Partner BankSA presenting the awards for the best show in each genre. Other awards include future touring awards, the Critics Circle, Pick of the Fringe and some other very special awards. This year, across all 34 awards, a total prize pool of over $75,000 is being dispersed to the winning artists.
Judged by a panel of arts industry leaders and arts lovers the overall awards celebrate a show within each genre category that was collectively decided the best of the Fringe. Each week of the Adelaide Fringe, judges attend hundreds of events across the fourteen genres and discerningly discuss the standouts. The Adelaide Fringe Awards acknowledge outstanding events presented within the Adelaide Fringe program, with awards presented both weekly awards and the overall awards at the end of the festival.
A brand new award, announced today, is the Sarah Rohrsheim Fringe Fellowship Award, with a prize purse of $25,000. This award allows an artist to take their work to new heights around the world and helps recognise Adelaide Fringe as a great springboard for artists. The Frank Ford Award is awarded to a South Australian artist to help them tour their work to new audiences and comes with a $20,000 prize purse.
Adelaide Fringe Director and CEO Heather Croall said “thankyou to everyone who participated at Fringe this year and made the season the success it was, and a massive congrats to all the Adelaide Fringe 2023 winners, we can’t wait to see what happens next for all these incredible shows and artists”.
Adelaide Fringe are on track to be the first festival ever in Australia to sell one million tickets, with more than 929,417 tickets already sold and a box office totalling over $23.5million. With three days left, Fringe lovers still have a chance to get out and see one of the winning Adelaide Fringe 2023 shows, or simply head to Fringe and support the festival in achieving the one million ticket milestone.
