Treat your students to the most enjoyable day out they’ll have all year! The Adelaide Fringe Schools Program provides assistance, benefits and resources to teachers booking memorable Fringe experiences for their students.
Fringe gives all artists the opportunity to opt-in to the Schools Program if they have an event that is appropriate for young people aged between 2-18 years. Artists are asked to nominate a discounted ticket price for schools and to provide free tickets for teachers as per the Department for Education teacher/student ratio guidelines (usually one or two per school group). The Schools Booking Guide containing this information is distributed to every South Australian school in January.
2020 saw the introduction of a Schools Equity discount. Category 1 to 4 schools are eligible for a discount of $5 per ticket on the Schools ticket price (or other relevant price) for any show in the Fringe.
“We have long understood the benefits that engaging with the arts can have on our students. However, the vast majority of our students lack significant exposure to different art forms. The opportunity to attend a Fringe event has been the highlight of the year for our class over the past two years. This wouldn’t be possible without the equity discount given to schools of a lower category. It allows our school to limit the amount of money we ask of parents, which leads to our students experiencing the richness of the arts at the Adelaide Fringe.” - Andrew Thomas, Northfield Primary School

School’s Poster Competition
Every year, Adelaide Fringe holds a Schools Poster Competition where students between Year 1 and 10 from Government, Independent, Catholic and Homeschool systems have the opportunity to submit a poster design. Students are asked to show us in their artwork what they enjoy about Fringe, or what Fringe means to them. Our judging panel is always impressed by the fantastic imagination, skills and creativity of the entries, and we’d love to have even more in the future! The winning student’s class will also receive a free Adelaide Fringe event to enjoy together - a great way to celebrate their classmates' win.
Read about the winner of the 2021 School’s Poster Competition and see their spectacular design here.
Stay tuned through our emails for the launch of the School’s Poster Competition for 2022!
