Schools Program

The Adelaide Fringe Schools Program (formerly YEP!) provides assistance, benefits and resources to teachers booking Fringe experiences for their students.

Fringe gives all artists the opportunity to opt-in to the Schools Program if they have an event that is appropriate for young people aged 2-18 years. Artists are asked to nominate a discounted ticket price for schools and to provide free tickets for teachers as per the DECD teacher/student ratio guidelines* (usually one or two per school group). In 2019, nearly 250 shows opted into the program. All participating shows and events are listed in the annual Schools guide - the 2020 guide will be available on this page from December 2019.

By booking through the Schools Program Coordinator (, teachers have access to discounted tickets, free tickets for teachers, flexible show times, in-school performances, Q&A sessions, workshops, backstage tours, teachers’ notes and more.

Teachers can join the Schools Facebook group and sign up to the Schools Program email list to keep up to date and be informed of additional sessions and offers.

2020 Adelaide Fringe Schools Poster Competition

Congratulations to the winner of the Adelaide Fringe Schools Poster Competition for 2020, Scarlett Scardigno, a Year 7 student from St Aloysius College.

We loved Scarlett's artwork of her amazing fish characters, but it was the description of the design that really caught the eye of the panel. Scarlett described her piece as "everyone is unique and will always be welcome to the Adelaide Fringe, even if you are a fish with legs in a tutu. Everyone's experience is different and magical, something no one will ever forget."

Students from all over South Australia entered the competition with Government, Independent, Catholic and Homeschool systems represented by artists from Year 2-12.

The Schools Program Partner Channel 9 is providing our winning artist with a performance by a 2020 Fringe artist at their school and her artwork will be on the cover of the Adelaide Fringe Schools Booking Guide for 2020.

All of the entries in the competition are displayed in the exhibition, which is at the Adelaide Central Market from 22 October to 3 November - on the mural wall in the North Eastern corner of the market.
