Honey Pot is designed to forge relationships between Fringe artists and arts delegates: presenters, programmers and producers of festivals and venues from around the world.
Over 200 delegates attend, all at different times over the four week festival. They see shows, they network, they are on the hunt for the next big thing. Or the thing that is needed to complete their program for 2018/2019 and beyond.
Now in its 11th year, the program’s prime objective is to create opportunities for works to have a life beyond the Fringe. This may be in the shape of a national or international tour; a collaboration or commission; a residency or development of a new or existing project; or simply the beginning of a beautiful (and fruitful) friendship.
Why Is It Different to Other Markets?
Artists from all over the world see Adelaide Fringe as a testing ground for new works and a place to premiere tour-ready contemporary productions. By signing up to the Honey Pot program, such works become part of an industry hotspot to get seen, and potentially take the leap into the touring arts market.
Key elements of the Honey Pot program include:
- Inviting genuine buyers to be a part of the program.
- Enabling delegates to see approximately 20 shows across an art form during their stay and in their entirety.
- Facilitating the weekly Hives: a charged and carefully structured networking session for artists and delegates.
- A match-making service for participating delegates.
Honey Pot Results
The number of shows that have gone on to tour Australia and the world as a direct result of the Honey Pot program continues to grow year after year. As at October last year the 2017 program has already resulted in over 100 shows being picked up by national and international festivals and producers.
