SALARY: $65,000 – 70,000 per annum (pro rata), plus 11.5% superannuation

ABOUT ADELAIDE FRINGE

Adelaide Fringe is an annual open-access arts festival run over four weeks and five weekends in Adelaide, South Australia during February and March. With free events, ground-breaking work, new talent, innovative thinking and original voices, we’re for everyone. It is one of the largest, most popular and diverse arts festivals in Australia. Thousands of artists from around Australia and across the globe participate alongside home-grown talent, in art forms spanning cabaret, comedy, circus & physical theatre, dance, film, theatre, music, visual art and design.
Arts Unlimited is the Adelaide Fringe Foundation which is supported by a voluntary board, acting as a sub-committee of the Adelaide Fringe Board. Adelaide Fringe has a vision to be the most inclusive festival in the world and the foundation raises money to support this vision across three main pillars;

The Fringe Fund
Adelaide Fringe presents grants and development opportunities throughout the year with the aim of removing the financial barriers for artists and venues to participate in Adelaide Fringe as well as opportunities to collaborate with creative organisations to develop works—both opportunities contribute to the diversity of the Fringe program and development of audiences across all genres.
With the help of our generous donors, these grants help us elevate diverse and marginalised voices, and support all forms of expression which enrich our festival offerings.

The Community Fund
The Community Fund exists to purchase Fringe tickets for community and school groups experiencing disadvantage who would not otherwise be able to experience Fringe. Through this initiative, we can transport people from their everyday lives, inspire future creatives and bring people together through the arts.

Fringe Forever Fund (name TBC)
This pillar is dedicated to securing the future of Adelaide Fringe – Australia’s biggest arts festival and a vital part of South Australia’s cultural identity. By investing in the Fringe Forever Fund, donors help ensure the long-term sustainability and growth of the festival, enabling it to continue delivering meaningful impact across the state.
This support powers our ability to bring people together through shared artistic experiences, enrich mental health and wellbeing, energise city and regional economies, and create opportunities for local businesses, producers, and creatives. It underpins our commitment to innovation, accessibility, and inclusivity – keeping Fringe vibrant, relevant, and transformative for generations to come.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Donor Relations & Stewardship
  • Support the growth and stewardship of the Adelaide Fringe Donor Circle, including donor acquisition, upgrades, and relationship management.
  • Coordinate donor engagement activities, including events, exclusive experiences, and fringe-related opportunities.
  • Manage donor acknowledgement processes to ensure consistent recognition across all platforms.
  • Support donor acquisition through research, outreach and diligent data management.

Fundraising Administration
  • Coordinate the planning, delivery and reporting of fundraising campaigns, appeals, and donor renewal cycles.
  • Maintain accurate donor records using the organisation’s CRM system, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
  • Prepare reports, surveys, donor insights, and briefing materials for internal and external stakeholders.

Grants & Proposal Support
  • Chair the internal fundraising working group with cross-departmental participation.
  • Maintain the grants register & projects portfolio and monitor deadlines and reporting requirements for grant-funded projects, ensuring timely and accurate submissions and acquittals across the organisation.
  • Coordinate compelling grant applications, funding proposals, reports, and acquittals for philanthropic partners, foundations, and major donors.

Events & Campaigns
  • Coordinate logistics for donor and fundraising events during the Adelaide Fringe season and throughout the year.
  • Manage RSVPs, guest liaison, and post-event follow-ups.
  • Collaborate with the wider Adelaide Fringe team to align donor experiences with the festival’s programming.
  • Collaborate with the Ticketing Team to deliver the Adelaide Fringe Community Fund strategy, including ticket allocation and stakeholder engagement with schools, charities, and NFPs
  • Support the Head of Philanthropy & Development, working in collaboration with the marketing team to develop engaging, innovative fundraising appeals throughout the year including but not limited to:
    • Pay it Forward
    • Regular Giving
    • Giving Day
    • EOFY/Fringe Fund
    • Gift in Will

Communications & Marketing
  • Work closely with the Marketing team to develop donor communications, such as eDMs, impact stories, and campaign collateral.
  • Contribute to storytelling efforts that highlight the impact of donor support, especially through community and artist-focused narratives.

General Support
  • Act as the first point of contact for donor and Foundation enquiries.
  • Support the wider BD Team with administrative and strategic tasks as needed.
  • Uphold Arts Unlimited and Adelaide Fringe’s values of diversity, inclusion, and creativity in all interactions.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
  • Demonstrated experience in fundraising practices and donor relationships (minimum 5 years)
  • Knowledge of broad community attitudes particularly as they apply to the charity sector
  • Proven ability to negotiate, steward and support income streams through philanthropy
  • Ability to initiate, lead, plan, prioritise and organise work within a set timetable and in an environment of change and conflicting demands
  • Skills in program/project management, including facilitation, planning, development, monitoring and evaluation
  • Ability to liaise and work effectively across Fringe and with external agencies and community groups
  • High level of attention to detail

  • You will be highly motivated with the drive to succeed and the ability to establish credibility and effectively network with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Outstanding communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to liaise, interact and communicate effectively and easily with a broad range of people, both internal and external to the organisation, in a professional and ethical manner
  • Demonstrable interpersonal skills and a proven ability to develop genuine long-term relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, via email, telephone and in person
  • Advocacy skills and experience would be highly desirable
  • Willingness to think creatively, problem solve, plan ahead, and manage competing priorities
