Formally trained at the ACA and Circomedia (UK) Sven couples his high physicality with his acting studies, received at West Australia’s Academy of Performing Arts, to subvert the trope's of circus and theatre to see what they are and what they could be.
Pushing at the confines of both genres Hopla creates work that is surreal, funny and weirdly beautiful. Transgressive without reverting to shock tactics and able to couple caustic wit with warmth Sven's work is circus theatre for the thinking audience. He has played to tens of thousands on the main stages at Glastonbury to twenty kids in a field and everything in between and has enjoyed it all. Fisticuffs is his first one man show and probably the best thing he's ever done.
