After six stellar performances, including at the Adelaide Botanic Gardens and National Science Week, Adelaide’s home grown comedy-science show is back at the Fringe! It’s all about video clips that have gone viral on social media because we find them fascinating, hilarious, sometimes downright weird. But what do they really show? There is plenty of fun when a comedian starts guessing, especially when it’s about the “wilder things” that go on in the animal kingdom. But there are also a lot of surprises when solid science sets things straight. It’s a light-hearted yet meaningful banter that people at previous shows found “great fun and very educational”; “informative, different, entertaining”; and “absolutely wonderful”. If you love nature, and like having a laugh, this one’s for you.

If you have own any video clips of animals that show interesting behaviors and you would like to have discussed, you can send them to our ZoodleTV team at contact@zoodle.tv

The ZoodleTV project started in 2020, as a unique Adelaide-based partnership between science communicator Dr Susannah Eliott, science journalist Dr Gerd Winter, conservationist Jill Woodlands and radio broadcaster Annie Hastwell. The team’s ambition was to communicate conservation issues to a broad audience by combining science with comedy. The project received several grants, including from Inspiring South Australia, the Adelaide City Council, and Green Adelaide. To date, ZoodleTV has produced six live shows at Fringe Festivals, National Science Week and at the Adelaide Botanic Gardens (Botanic Lumina), with performers including renown comedians Eddie Banner and Boo Dwyer, and wildlife experts Prof Chris Daniels and John Gitsham.
