William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream

Theatre and Physical Theatre • Comedy
South Australia • World Premiere

Shakespeare’s beloved comedy follows four young Athenians in their pursuit of love. With plans to elope, Hermia and Lysander escape to the forest, followed by Hermia’s friend Helena and Lysander’s rival Demetrius. Along their journey, they get swept into the squabbles of the Fairy King and Queen and fall victim to the mischievous tricks of the Pucks. Meanwhile, a troupe of actors known as “the mechanicals” rehearse a play in the forest. Under the influence of mistakenly administered love potion lovers, mechanicals, and fairies alike devolve into the confusion and chaos of love triangles and mistaken identities, with hilarious consequences. Set in the 1970s, this fresh spin on A Midsummer Night’s Dream shows new audiences that the course of true love never did run smooth.
