Summerhall – “One of the world’s great arts venues.” (Mark Cousins, The Guardian 2014) – is a venue for diverse programmes of visual and performing arts. It is a place for all kinds of events, parties, workshops, festivals, weddings and meetings. It is home to a varied community of creative artists and businesses, including a pub, café, brewery and distillery.
The Dissection Room is used primarily to present live music, including our Nothing Ever Happens Here... programme, and club nights, with its own bar for audiences The name might conjure up something a little gruesome but Summerhall’s Dissection Room is a handsome, large and unique space – creating a special atmosphere.

The main entrance to Summerhall has 9 stone steps with no railing. Step-free access is via the side entrance on Summerhall Square. As you enter through the side entrance, The Royal Dick bar is situated to your right (with a ramp at the rear of the bar). There is a ramp directly ahead of you across the courtyard – this leads to the Main Building, including the Box Office, exhibitions and Café.
