TRIAL BY MONKEY: the gameshow

A one-person, semi-interactive reenactment of the real-life criminal trial of a feminist hero — done as a TV gameshow. The audience (‘jury’) nightly decides the contestant’s fate, after hearing from judge, barrister, and witnesses, who are all … Talking chimpanzees. Every time is different, but it’s always funny, always heavy, and always worth it, encapsulating what a world has woken up to these last few years: that millions are suffering under a broken criminal justice system - to this end the creator has teamed up with Australian criminal justice non-profits, and all ticket sales are donated between them. Previous donations have been made to One Woman Project (onewomanproject.org), Sisters Inside (sistersinside.com.au), and Flat Out Inc (flatout.org.au).

“A bold concept that has been cleverly pieced together … McKay is a showman, who plays up to the crowd, involving us and questioning us as the story develops.” Alex First, itellyouwhatithink.com
