The Shoemaker Of Havana
Alvaro Garcia is 72 years of age. He has made shoes for six decades. Alvaro has made shoes for Fidel Castro, Raul Castro and Che Guevara; shoes that helped the architects of the Revolution samba and tango their way through The Bay of Pigs Invasion and the Cuban Missile Crisis. Sixty years on and the Revolution has stalled.
Che is dead, Fidel is dead, Raul has stepped aside.
Alvaro has made a decision. He must leave Cuba. Why? Because he must take his shoes to the world before he too dies.
With a cast of characters including the Shoemaker, his wife Eva, John Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, Barbara Walters, Nikita Khrushchev, Marita Lorenz, Alina Fernandez and Lisa Howard, telling it as it was. In the style of ‘BELFAST’ (Best Theatre and Physical Theatre Weekly Award 2022).
