A woman, wearing a white cotton dress, stands up to her thighs in flowing water of a creek bed. She has one arms extended out. Her wet red hair is tousled across her face and her expression holds tenderness, love and loss.
A part of the creek is shown with its still water and reflections. On the left of this a woman walking away with her back turned to us. Just her lower body and feet are shown. She is wearing a white dress.
A woman is standing up to her pelvis in the rushing water. She has both hands extended out towards the water's flow. She is wearing a white dress. She is seen from the neck down.

The Cherry Scrub

Theatre and Physical Theatre
New South Wales • World Premiere

A storytelling performance inspired by the traditional South American folktale ‘La Llorona’. Its journey takes us into Bundjalung Country, Northern Rivers, New South Wales, where the writer and performance storyteller Lynn Preston interweaves an exploration of the interdependencies of land and body; the heart and the river's flow; the ovaries of womanhood and the cedar scrub - with story conflict, as navigation towards an understanding of how we may belong.
