SOUL & DÉJÀ VU

• Contemporary
South Australia • World Premiere

Alchemy Dance Collective presents a double-bill showcasing brand new contemporary dance works created by a team of Adelaide College of the Arts graduates.

“SOUL”, directed by Hanna Instrell-Walker, experiments with the idea of spiritual manifestation and the actualization of good and bad thoughts. This is a work heavily influenced by the concept of karma, and the contrast between people who believe in it, and the people who don’t.

Kate Burgess, a 2022 Honours in Creative Arts (Dance) graduate, directs “DÉJÀ VU”; a work that blends elements of satire and comedy to open a conversation about common gender imbalances. Have you ever sensed a recurring hurdle that makes you feel like you’ve already experienced the present moment?

Alchemy Dance Collective was recently co-founded by a group of 2021 dance graduates from Adelaide College of the Arts. Caroline De Wan, Kate Burgess and Hanna Instrell-Walker have a shared ambition for collaboration in the performing arts industry, each having experience in videography/photography, and physical theatre. Alchemy, as a project based collective, aims to collaborate and experiment within the arts community to create hybridised performance based works.

Alchemy Dance Collective will make their debut performance for Adelaide Fringe 2023.
