Curtain World is an art and event production house based in Meanjin (Brisbane). The company began in 2021 as an effort on the part of playwright Esther Dougherty to consolidate and evidence the labour of production as separate from the art object. What emerged was a production house that loves its artists truly, that works for them, that performs for them. It has produced independent seasons of theatre, interstate tours, durational performance installations, workshops, poetry reading events, costumes, and videos. It has presented the debut seasons of 4 original Australian plays, and contracted over 50 independent artists across many theatre projects. In 2023, Curtain World debuted new play 'Zagazig' in a sold-out indie season at VENTspace.
