Sincerely Survivor

• Spoken Word
Victoria
Sincerely Survivor seeks to amplify the voices and stories of people who have lived experience of the Victorian Mental Health System. We create art, to enable our empathy; advocating for mental health through the arts. In this work, dancers take on the role of pilgrims, exploring asylums of old. We acknowledge that the experience of mental illness is not representative of someone that is lesser but instead speaks to the strength of the human spirit against adversity.

"This work of Art manages to jog our conscience to not forget those forgotten by the system. Everyone involved deserves a standing ovation!" Weekend Notes.

Sincerely Survivor debuted in 2020 at Melbourne Fringe Festival and was awarded the Best Emerging Performance Ensemble Award and nominated as one of the Best in Dance.

Presented by: Grace Dance Company

Grace Dance Company is an emerging dance organisation with a mission to care for dancers and communities through artistic practice and cultural storytelling. We have strong mental health inclusion priorities and seek to advocate for sustainable and diverse dance practice, responding to the unique needs of the dance industry and our collective covid and mental health recovery.

Sincerely Survivor is the debut work of Grace Dance Company, exploring mental health advocacy through the Arts. The work acts as an invitation for people with lived mental health experience to find healing through the Arts, peer support and storytelling.
