Schapelle, Schapelle

Theatre and Physical Theatre • Musical Theatre
New South Wales • SA Premiere
The story of her conviction, incarceration and release has kept the public enthralled for almost 15 years. Fictionalised, but featuring pivotal actual events and verbatim elements, Schapelle, Schapelle captures a story of absurdity, opportunism, loneliness and redemption - all spun together with a rollicking down-to-earth musical score. "It's Bali, Bintang and battlers," says director Abby Gallaway. "The style and flavour of the show is pure Aussie irreverence. But there was also a human being at the centre of this, who suffered public infamy at the hands of a wild media circus. So we had to tell that story too."

"Extraordinarily clever, insightful and funny...not to be missed!" Arts Hub

"unapologetically camp and irreverent", "undeniably funny and energetic show" Australian Stages
