Santoor - Journey of 100 strings

Experience the divine sounds of the ancient Kashmir santoor in concert played by one of the world’s most exciting young santoor masters, Vinay Desai (USA) and supported by tabla maestro Jay Dabgar (Aust). The Santoor (Indian/Kashmiri hammer dulcimer) has been described as the sound of the Himalayas with its shimmering notes and sweetness of sound. Vinay is known for his superlative melodic improvisations and sharp sense of rhythm. Together with Jay, they reinterpret traditional music that combines both meditation and musical excitement. Journey of 100 strings brings the musical tradition, artistic virtuosity together in a sublime demonstration of the possibilities and qualities of this remarkable instrument, the Santoor.
