WINNER - Most Promising Emerging Company, NZ Fringe 2016
In Pedal, House of Sand's work and the precursor to multi-award winning Castles, emerging star of the cross-artform stage Eliza Sanders brings all her artistic skills to the table. Text, movement, virtuosic dance & song.
"Virtuosic, herculean, mercurial, clever and generous."(Theatreview)
Sanders' work will offer a new experience in the lexicon of dance."(Canberra Critics Circle)
Pedal charts the first part of an archetypal journey of discovery... in a completely a-typical way. Like absurd stream-of-consciousness writing, Eliza finds a-logical, illogical & semi-logical connections between ideas and memories --- a hive of strangely interconnected questions & musings --- from the silly to the sublime.
DOUBLE BILL DEAL with 'CASTLES'

Presented by: House of Sand and Holden Street Theatres

Co-Artistic Directors Charles Sanders and Eliza Sanders work together and separately in a broad range of styles, in many places - principally Adelaide, Wellington, Sydney, and Canberra ...and wherever else the wind takes us.

House of Sand's work traverses, thematically as well as physically: sometimes it's political, sometimes personal, usually a little pensive and always a little absurd. It embraces the very global and the very local.

Our inspiration comes from our observations of the world and the people around us:
A melding of minds is central to our thinking, and so we work with a broad range of collaborators.

Uniting it all is a signature expressionist aesthetic and a visceral performance style that results in electric audience experiences.
