Marvellous Music at Mary Mags
This popular series returns with three sublime Sunday afternoon concerts of music for voice.
Feb 23 - Michele de Courcy and Sacred Hearts sing luminous music from Renaissance convent life, telling stories of the seasons, feasts and saints’ days that punctuated the calendar of the nuns’ lives.
Mar 1 - Delightful vocals from soprano Katrina Mackenzie and the exceptional skill of guitarist Caleb-Lavery-Brook combine to provide a perfect afternoon of folk and art song. This concert will feature a mix of music by French, Spanish, English and Australian composers.
Mar 8 – Peter Deane presents a random but sublime selection of music for male vocal ensemble alternately sung beautifully, lustily and movingly for your edification. Songs of sailors and the sea, sacred music from many centuries and songs of love, requited or not.
Presented by: St Mary Magdalene's Anglican Church
St Mary Magdalene’s is an Anglican church in the heart of the city of Adelaide, an open, welcoming and inclusive Christian community. Founded in Moore Street in 1886, the church has been a constant presence in the city, having a commitment to social justice, and a special ministry to the poor and marginalised people of the city.
St Mary Magdalene’s church building is a beautiful little jewel, visually delightful and with a lovely acoustic well suited to vocal music. In 2018 the church community continues the popular tradition of hosting concerts as part of the Fringe Festival.
