Kafka's Ape is an award-winning play about a primate's struggle to overcome the confines of captivity. Red Peter, the ape, embarks on a journey ignited by finding his way out of the cage that he's been living in since his capture - a journey in which he becomes acutely aware of his appearance and 'otherness'. Directed by Phala O Phala and performed by award-winning actor Tony Miyambo, 'Kafka's Ape' is a metaphorical view on society in post-Apartheid South Africa and examines the construction of identity in the modern world.
