In the Mood for Love: The American Songbook Experience
Move over, Frank Sinatra! Melanie Gall presents the story of her grandfather, Big Band singer Jack Young. Jack, a young immigrant to Canada in the 1930s who inherited the family voice, took the stages of Toronto by storm. Jack’s tale – an inspirational, uplifting story of love, music, and devotion to his childhood sweetheart, Estelle – is as timeless as the tunes he sang.
With songs from the songwriters of Tin Pan Alley, the stages of Broadway, and the Hollywood musicals of the 1930s and 1940s – hits by George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin and other superstars of popular song. Featuring a dozen tunes, including “On the Sunny Side of the Street,” “I’m in the Mood for Love,” “Moon River,” and “Stardust.”
