Fugly- Bent Burlesque

Cabaret • Burlesque
Australia • SA Premiere

In a world thats over fixated on pretty- its time to get your Fugly on!

Australia’s notorious Queen of Burlesque, World Queen of Burlesque, Imogen Kelly, is bringing a cast of LGBTQAI+ showgirly superstars for 4 nights only!

Bent Burlesque was created in 2011 to honour Australian queer burlesque history and it has been heating up the stages of Sydney and Melbourne ever since. 2023 is Bent's first trip to Adelaide with FUGLY!

Fugly is alternative, subversive and wild in content and energy; an hour of raunch, celebrating sexuality and individuality.

“An orgy of glamour and daring, a diverse kaleidoscope of identities, bodies and gender expressions dotted with sequins, feathers and bare nipples…”
The Music

“I loved this show so much I want to marry it.” Lee Bemrose, Australian Stage

Presented by: Imogen Kelly

Hailing from the underground queer performance scene of Sydney in the early nineties, Imogen has spent 30 years onstage championing women's rights and queer visibility.

Bon vivant and plaything of millionaires, Imogen is renowned for changing laws pertaining to striptease, in doing so pioneered the burlesque revival in Oz.

Imogen Kelly has a BFA in performance, a circus diploma from ZACA UK and has graduated from the NIDA director’s course at NIDA.

Imogen has been a top end show pony who has spent her life touring the world. Imogen was crowned World Queen of Burlesque at The Burlesque Hall of Fame in Las Vegas 2012. She is the only Australian this far carry that title and is globally celebrated as Australia's own Queen of Burlesque!
Her work continues to set the world ablaze!

Fugly is rude, crude and parts of us will be nude. If you love pretty burlesque, this might not be your show. If you love parody and satire of the heteronormative world- we are your people.
