Footfalls by Samuel Beckett
A rare theatrical experience of Beckett's later work. Footfalls is the story of May pacing obsessively, talking to her mother. As May tells her mother of her story of how she came to do nothing but this: she was once a girl who decided she would never leave her room and would never have done "revolving it all". What all?
Beckett's mystery play explores memories of loss, guilt and the endless childhood, stetching onto premature senility.
★★★★ This is all a Beckett production should be exact in its fidelity to the script, uncompromising it its bleakness, precise in its rhythms and vocal control. Beckett's mesmeric force, his ability to summon spirits from the vast deep " The Age.
"Angove is exceptional in this role, finding depth and resonance " Kate Herbert theatre reviewer.
