Adelaide musicians Melanie Walters and Jack de la Lande join forces for an eclectic recital of music by contemporary composers for flute and percussion. The program will include music by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer David Lang, as well as works by ARIA-nominated Yuin art music composer Brenda Gifford, and US composer Timo Andres, whose music has been praised for its “playful intelligence and individuality" (The Guardian)

Melanie Walters has been described as a “champion of new music in South Australia” (The Serenade Files), and her flute-playing as “truly exceptional” (The Advertiser).
She holds a PhD in flute performance, for which she received a Dean’s Commendation. She specialises in performing experimental and contemporary classical music, and has performed at the Bang on a Can Summer Festival, Musica Viva Sessions, COMA, and the Australian Flute Festival.
Melanie is the Artistic Director of the flute ensemble Coruscalia Collective, Principal Flute of the Adelaide Wind Orchestra, and Vice President of The Flute Society of South Australia.
