CANCELLED Cepacia: Love Takes His Breath Away

Theatre and Physical Theatre • Social Change
Australian Premiere
Jen, in foster care with an abusive past, and Alex, in boarding school, both have Cystic Fibrosis. She's skinny but otherwise well, he desperately needs a lung transplant. In a chat room, Alex learns it's nearly Jen's birthday which nobody is going to celebrate. As his breathing is a constant, conscious and often painful act, the irony of having his breath taken away by love isn't lost. A twist on the Romeo & Juliet story written by Stephen Cronin.

This production is raising awareness of Cystic Fibrosis and raising funds for Cystic Fibrosis SA.

Presented by: Emma Knights Productions

Shadow Dreams as an entity was first formed back in 1990 to develop and seek commissioning of a television series called “It’s your body” for children and young people on their development, health and welfare. Despite considerable interest in the project it failed to be commissioned and in 1991 Stephen returned to working in the medical practice as a Paediatrician.

In 1988, when a registrar on a Children’s Cancer Ward, Stephen and his colleague Roger Guertin had conceived and developed a series of videos to teach children about the diagnosis, investigation and the treatment of their Cancers or Leukemias.

The videos won two national and one international award, and were used in every Children’s Cancer Centre in the UK as well as many similar units around the world.
