Australian Premiere
Abhinaya means "the art of expression". It is a highly specialized component in Indian classical dance forms focusing mainly on expression of dance through the limbs, jewellery and costumes, voice and the face. The use of skilled expression in Bharathanatyam will improve the aesthetic quality of a performance and the viewing of a performance.
'Anubhavaa', an ensemble work, was conceived, choreographed and produced by Durga Mani Maran for Singapore. This Australian premiere at the Adelaide Fringe Festival 2018 will be presented as a collaboration by Somi Lindsay (Apsaras Arts Adelaide), Durga Mani Maran and company dancer Dhevani Ramachandran (Tripataka, Singapore).

Somi Lindsay (Apsaras Arts Adelaide) is a Bharathanatyam practitioner and teacher. Student of the esteemed Smt Neila Sathyalingam (Singapore), Somi has been featured as a lead artist in countless productions and has represented her dance internationally over 2 decades. Apsaras Arts Adelaide,is a bespoke Bharathanatyam dance school propagating this art under her leadership since 2012.
Durga Mani Maran (Tripataka Singapore) is a teaching artist trained in Bharathanatyam by Gurus in Singapore and India.A graduate of contemporary arts with a Dance major (Deakin University) she has been working on shifting the traditional dance pedagogy to suit the needs of the learner. Durga has conceived, produced and toured 13 independent works supported by major grants and regularly lectures in China

Please note, this event's venue has changed from Percy Court to Goodwood Institute. Children aged 6 and under are free providing they sit on an adult's lap.
