A former international student finds her true passion in Australia. It is a story of blending cultures on the shared experience of tears and laughter. Join Qian’s inspiring journey of self-discovery through words and music, from traditional Chinese to Western, from pop, folk, jazz and even opera. An unusual and must-see cabaret!
Presented by: Xueqian (Chien) Zhang
Xueqian Zhang is an emerging singer-songwriter, bilingual MC, storyteller, vlogger and cultural ambassador. Her strength is combining culture, stories and music in an authentic, fun and light-hearted way.
In the past two years, she has performed at various live music venues, city council events and music festivals. She has presented and shared Chinese culture and music online and at different events, such as the Woodford Music Festival, National Folk Festival, OzAsia Festival, Fleurieu Folk Festival, Wirrina Bluegrass & Acoustic Roots Festival, Asia Street Food Festival, and Chinese New Year Street Party.
In 2023, she was selected as part of the Contemporary Asian Australian Performance and OzAsia Festival Artist Lab SA cohort.
