A New Opera: The Curse on Dyved

Music • Opera
International • World Premiere

World premiere of chamber opera, 'The Curse on Dyved', by award-winning Welsh-American composer Christopher Wicks. The opera combines mysterious and fanciful Welsh folklore from the ancient epic, the Mabinogian, with sumptuous neo-classic music for a timeless tale about the triumph of love over mischief and malevolence in the land of Dyved. Sung in English, and integrating dance throughout, this creatively exciting, fully-staged performance is suitable for all ages. Rising South Australian opera singers Michele de Courcy (Queen Rhiannon), Katelyn Crawford (Kicva), Jamie Moffatt (Manawydan), and Jordan Newsham (Pryderi/Llwyd) will be supported by ensemble dancers from the Newry School. Conducted and directed by Jamie Lynn Webster, with Christopher Bond (stage direction), Emilie Court (choreography).
