You'll have worked out by now that things are a flurry of activity here at Scouts SA. We've just embarked upon a once-in-a-lifetime initiative, which we hope to transform Kid's future and ensure our programs continue to flourish and grow for decades to come.

Scouting is born of an idea. The idea of a man who was a national hero of his time. The fact that now, more than 100 years later, Scouting continues to grow is testament that his was one of the great ideas in history.

A long serving soldier of great standing, Robert Baden-Powell was fed up with man's constant habit of making war. His idea? That only through the education of the youth of the world, can world peace and understanding be achieved.

Although not the term used at the time, Scouting can be described as the world's first and biggest peace movement. Today over 250 million people in the world are Scouts or former Scouts. Perhaps Scouting has played a significant role in the fact that not since 1945 has there been a world war.
