13 The Musical

Theatre and Physical Theatre • Musical Theatre

An upbeat contemporary musical comedy. This hilarious, coming-of-age musical is about discovering that cool is sometimes where we least expect it. Following a move from New York City to small-town Indiana, new friendships are formed while young Evan Goldman grapples with his parents' divorce, prepares for his impending Bar Mitzvah, and navigates the complicated social circles of a new school.

13 is the only Broadway musical ever with a cast and band entirely made of teenagers and this production will continue that tradition!

The Adelaide Youth Theatre had its inaugural performance in January of 2011 and since then has worked with thousands of children from around South Australia producing highly acclaimed and award winning productions. Working with young performers has also enabled the company to take on brand new Directors, Musical Directors and Choreographers and encourage them to take their work further. Many of our young performers have also gone on to professional work, including in National touring productions such as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Cloudstreet, and most recently The Sound of Music. Performers are given the chance to work in age group productions i.e. Junior and Senior each year, as well as a Fringe show and a combined ages musical, and as many of these as possible are performed with a live orchestra/band. AYT is also part of the Australian Youth Performing Arts Team, and has travelled to the USA, UK, Hong Kong, & Paris for their performers to perform on International stages.
