From the use of light to create immersive, large-scale visual delights to the utilisation of projection of light to help tell stories and sell intricate theories, and exploring the relationship between the intricacies of light and other forms.

Art meets technology in this magical installation allowing you to experience the magic of the Northern Lights right here in Adelaide. Dan Acher’s BOREALIS had its Southern Hemisphere premiere in Adelaide Fringe 2018. Since then, it has travelled the world and wowed audiences in a dozen countries and makes a much anticipated return this Fringe.

High power laser beams travel through particle clouds to create the illusion of Aurora Borealis; variations in weather conditions, movement, colour, and density mean that the effect is different every night.  Move through the canopy, be transported by a stunning soundscape and marvel at BOREALIS as it flickers among the trees and reflects over the lake at Murlawirrapurka.

BOREALIS is an observational experience featuring a looped 40-minute atmospheric soundtrack. Patrons will enter at 15-minute intervals, and can choose how long they spend in the installation space, from 15 minutes to a longer visit. Your ticket to Borealis gains you access to the Borealis site at the Rymill Park lake only and does not guarantee you entry into the main Gluttony site if the venue is at capacity.

Mountain has been the headline entertainment for Glow, Horizon and Real Festivals in Australia. Mountain has wowed the crowds with its innovative, physical and visual spectacle.

The performance combines aerial theatre with cutting edge interactive performance technology to explore society’s increasing dependence on technology and the effect it’s having on the world and biosphere around us. The four performers seamlessly meld acrobatics, dance and aerials to create a captivating spectacle.

Alongside the show, Mountain also features a projected 3D play space for young and old alike. Directly after the 25-minute performance, kids and adults are invited to rediscover the environment, wildlife and our relationship to it as the stage is transformed into an interactive Australian habitat.

It’s the audience’s time to shine as the interactive projection system encourages everyone to be animated, get moving and play along with Stalker’s giant interactive play wall on the stage.

“Doppler Shift” is a self-contained structure shelter with gradient shading that incorporates immersive lighting and sound. The Installation visualises the Doppler effect in the visible light spectrum.

The Doppler effect alters how a wave is perceived by an observer. As a light source moves fast enough toward an observer, they will experience a blue shift to the light. As the light moves away from the observer, they will view the light with a red shift. This is much like the audible pitch change (eeeee-ooooo) when a car horn passes you on the street. The waves are moving with the origin, which causes a frequency change to the observer.

As you move through “Doppler Shift” you are encouraged to interact with the Doppler effect and experience how the gentle shifts of light affect your perception of your surroundings.

As you remain stationary in the installation you can notice how the world moving around you changes as others pass. “Doppler Shift” offers a view of how waves move through space.

Part-theatre, part-standup, part-PowerPoint Presentation. One lecturer desperately tries to prove a popular 'Grease' fan theory: that Sandy drowns in the opening beach sequence and the rest of the film is her coma fantasy.

Over the course of 13 scenes, 78 slides, and a flood of custom animations, the lecture warps. Lost in a storm of conspiracy, the lecturer drags the audience down into a world of wigs, jackets, and surreal projection.

Through this postmodern journey through Reddit, film, and academia, 'Grief Lighting' explores ideas of gender, pop culture, and obsession. If 'Grease' is nothing more than a fantasy, is Sandy's narrative really the best we can hope for?

Relax, unwind and be immersed in the presence of the sounds of plants! This unique, live sound bath performance by Sacred Resonance, incorporates the sounds created by plants, as well as relaxing and transformative music in the celestial gardens.

For our previous show ICOSA 20 we were the winners of the John Chataway Innovation Award, (Week 4 BankSA Award, Adelaide Fringe 2020). ICOSA20, Directed by Sacred Resonance, SuperNature Productions conjunction with In Search of the Divine.

INFINITE SPACES is the latest in a series of installations by 19MIL that explores the interactions of video, light and reflection. The audience is invited to get lost amongst seemingly endless animation where their perception of space is challenged.

19MIL is a creative company operating out of London, the U.K. that specialises in the design and production of stages and immersive environments for live performance and events.

19MIL is recognised for its innovative solutions that push the possibilities of new technologies, materials and mediums, with a focus on producing memorable experiences that challenge the ways people interact with their surroundings. Their unique design aesthetic is often informed by geometry, light and reflection.

19MIL’s founder, Chris Canavan, has worked alongside artists such as Skepta, La Roux and Lapalux and has designed stages for Space Ibiza, Fabric Live & Resident Advisor.

This show marries interactive technology, modern dance and new music to follow the story of Philippa Cullen, an Australian pioneering dancer. This work uses bespoke interactive electronic instruments. It redraws new outlines for our relationship between sound, movement and light. MoZzi X INKATJA: is a multimedia cultural spectacular making its debut as part of Adelaide Fringe 2021. To the finely selected DJ cuts of Dre 'MoZzi' Ngatokorua, this show gives the audience the opportunity to be immersed in the artwork of Lavene 'INKATJA' as her paintings inspired by Adnyamathanha culture are brought to life through floor to ceiling projections. Dre 'MoZzi' Ngatokorua and Lavene 'INKATJA' are of Wangkangurru and Adnyamathanha descent with Dre's roots also being Cook Island and Maori.

Ticket holders can wander through Ngunyawayiti Theatre at any time between 7.30pm - 10.30pm and take their time to soak up this sensory experience, grab a pillow and lie on the floor and listen to the MoZzi mixes and view the projections of Lavene 'INKATJA's artworks.

Artists explore what light they have found in complex social and political times. Explorations may be literal, spiritual or multidimensional. The West Torrens Auditorium Gallery has an established group of exhibiting artists who contribute to exhibitions and will explore this year's theme in a refreshing multi media display.

Spoken word poet Miranda Krogstad intersperses her work with TED Talk-style lecture and other interdisciplinary arts for this powerful, multimedia show. Using poetry, film, captions, comedy, dance, music, and other art forms in this storytelling journey, the show will leave you feeling engaged and inspired, uplifted and challenged.

Through personal stories on the universal themes of love, loss, humor, self-expression, and more, Krogstad uses her individual experience to point out the commonalities in all of us. Heart-warming, hopeful, and vulnerable, 'Why We Tell Stories' is an appeal to acceptance and diversity that should not be missed.

NOTE: This performance aims to be accessible to various hearing and vision abilities by incorporating multiple mediums, languages, and senses.

'Nice To Meet You' is a new body of work by Adelaide based Artist Arlon Hall. In this exhibition Hall continues to explore new possibilities within his practice, investigating the relationship between painting, drawing, sculpture, light, movement, interaction and installation. Bold colour and abstract shapes create playful compositions which dance with each other in a playground of instinct. Line and shape have been transformed into a three dimensional space through sculpture and installation, which in turn has become reference points for new drawings and paintings to emerge. Throughout the period of the exhibition the audience will be invited to engage with interactive elements within the installation and become active players within Hall's colourful world.
