The Twins is a masterpiece of brilliance: taking the heaviness of life and lifting it up into the light.
While it is humorous and light-hearted, it is also a painfully genuine journey of two life-long friends who have been challenged
It’s Theatre Verité at its most legitimate
It isn’t eloquently Shakespearean. It’s more a rough hewn honesty akin to craft work created in a men’s shed.
The Twins w/ Greg Fleet & Ian Darling: Only Their Shakespeare Can Tell Them Apart ~ Adelaide Fringe 2021 Review
Written by Fleet and Darling with the assistance of Sarah Butler (who was also the original director) this is Fringe gold
Fleet and Darling’s tales feel very real, because of course they are.
There is something both fascinating and perilous about The Twins. It is confessional, awkward, sometimes mawkish.
Promises 90 minutes of laughter, reflection and pure entertainment.
The Twins successfully explores the conundrums of ageing, the value of friendship and the importance of trust.
It’s two old friends having a chat about the past, and all so suburban - their ruminations aren’t any more interesting than mine.
