We first came across Maho Magic Bar during their sold out Adelaide Fringe season back in 2020 and I was so happy to see it back on the line up for 2022. If you’re looking for a Fringe show for date night, a super fun night out with friends or a show that you can take your older kids to, this is the one.

As soon as you step into this purpose built venue (the only one for it’s own show at Fringe) you’ll feel like you’ve just been transported to Japan. It’s lit up like downtown Tokyo – you really can’t miss it!

You’ll be given a seat at one of six tables where you can order a cocktail or a soft drink (there’s a minimum order of one drink per customer) and spend the next 60 minutes with either a huge smile on your face, or your jaw on the floor as you work out “how the bloody hell they just did THAT!?!!”

Each of the equally unique and equally captivating magicians rotate through this 60 minute show spending time at each bar, so you’ll see a whole range of up close magic tricks with a few “all in” mini shows when someone orders one of the special cocktails from the menu! Talk about an hour of power! It’s a total

Is it kid friendly? Yes! I would say for kids over about 8 very much so. It’s rated PG and for younger kids I’d suggest one of the early evening shows as the later ones can get a little rowdy but there’s no language warnings or sexy stuff that you’ll find in the other magic shows at Fringe. If your kids are into card tricks they will LOVE this.

It’s very fun, it’s very Japanese and it’s very VERY magic!

A mind blowing, jaw dropping, super fun and immersive five stars from us.
