Swingin’ Burlesque is back at the Adelaide Fringe this year, and once again has been a sell out season. If you enjoy watching a variety of acts in Burlesque rather than seeing a solo performer, it is a show to earmark for 2022.

The show runs for ninety minutes with a short break and features eight performers. Hosted by the gorgeous Lyra la Belle, 2011 winner of Miss Burlesque Adelaide and Bronze medal winner at the California Burlypicks, Swingin’ Burlesque features both local and interstate performers. Host Lyra ensures you keep your thoughts carnal throughout in a most amusing and playful way.

The showcase structure promises a lot. However, can only be as good as the acts featured. The constant throughout the evening was the consistent auditory pleasure of the incredibly talented onstage band. Made up of a trumpet, trombone, saxophone player and more, with the wonderful voice of its singer, their presence enhanced all acts.

Swingin’ Burlesque is all about what whets your desire. Do you like slow and seductive, or straight to the point, or prefer your strip tease with an element of danger? The evening included the likes of Letitia Stitch, Diana Divine, Miss Curvella and Strawberry Siren. The beauty of burlesque is the expression of one’s feminity through dance and in costume choice; at times humour, and always, with audience participation.
