Kevin Kropinyeri is practically a veteran of the Australian comedy scene: He’s been doing stand-up across Australia (including in countless regional towns and Indigenous communities) for 14 years, and he’s performed at the prestigious Edinburgh Fringe and Melbourne International Comedy festivals.

His latest offering is Kevin Kropinyeri Goes Talkabout, a heart-warming, vivacious hour of comedy in which Kev takes us on a tour of his world. We learn about his experiences growing up in the Raukkan Aboriginal community, meet a hilarious selection of his aunties, uncles, sisters and brothers, and hear some of the entertaining trials and tribulations of his modern life. Kropinyeri flaunts his skills in observation and impression through exploring the themes of family, youth, and past hardships. His silly, physical style and ability to poke fun at the audience made for a laid back, intimate atmosphere. He also powered through significant sound difficulties at the start of the set like a legend.

Kropinyeri is a proud Ngarrindjeri man, and the way he shares aspects of his culture as well as his vulnerabilities made for a show that was insightful and felt genuine.
