Few things are more amusing than combining a thick Aussie accent with music, so a Kath And Kim musical seems like a no-brainer for fun times. And with source material this iconic, it’s hard not to enjoy this foxy parody. The show is set loosely around the pilot episode, along with plentiful sprinklings of classic Kath And Kim moments throughout.

Several musical numbers are clear standouts, including ‘Emotional Pashrash’, a power ballad about Sharon’s dating life, and ‘Hornbag’, Kim’s popstar moment. Kath’s ballad also demonstrates vocal prowess; this task is especially difficult given the impressive amount of twang and diphthongs required for her quintessential Melbourne suburban accent. A few songs do leave a little to be desired, thanks to breaks with nothing to fill them, and several tunes in a row have a similar pace. However, they’re all filled with classic Kath And Kim gags, so there are plenty of nostalgic high points to enjoy. The cast’s comedic timing would make the original Kath and Kim scream ‘Look at moiii’ and all the actors emulate the OG’s mannerisms to perfection.
