This show is not for the saint-hearted. Right off the bat, Clare Robin’s angelic Nun explores the dark side of human pleasures and fantasies while maintaining a wildly comic persona that’s both surprising and funny: amen to that. Beginning with a hymn to get us comfy and settled (Robin does actually have an enchanting voice), her R-rated persona comes from nowhere. With lots of audience involvement, her brilliant timing, witty writing and straight-faced humour make everyone present wonder if she’s coming for them next, while Nun’s sarcastic undertones add depth and keep us guessing. Uncovering what goes on behind closed doors means this show isn’t for everyone, but if you bring an open mind it’s a must-see for those who want to delve into something unholy.
