London Calling is a jaw dropping visual feast of entertainment set against an amazing video backdrop of London’s best tourist destinations.

The opening and loud theme song, “London Calling” by “The Clash” set up a mood of Old Blighty that weaved its way through this one hour feast of circus and almost Vaudeville entertainment.  Hosted by the phenomenal ring master, Paul Dabek, London Calling was fast paced, humorous and at times a jaw dropping experience.

Foot juggler Antje Pode juggled more suitcases than a Qantas baggage handler and had the nearly full house truly amazed at both her precision and how she made it look so easy.  A standout performance from Captain Frodo followed in what was at times hard to look at as he dislocated numerous parts of his body to fit neatly through not one but two tennis raquets.  There were references to Austin “Danger” Powers in a hula hoop extravanganza set around an airline scene with music from Quincy Jones, an eye watering juggler that spun 5 led lit pins who could also juggle ping pong balls in his mouth and my favourite, Oscar Kaufman performing with a coat rack in an amazing show of strength and artistry.

The shadow puppetry seemed more a tribute to Ray Crowe who performed much the same act before Her Majesty the Queen in a Royal Variety Performance some years ago.  Towards the conclusion of the show Kaufman made a brief but what looked to be an unfinished entry as Freddy Mercury that seemed either misplaced or incomplete.

That said, London Calling is a visual and audio feast that was one hour of absolute entertainment with a magnificent and musical sub theme of London at it’s finest in the background.   Dabek and this wonderful cast should be proud of their professionalism and delivery of this fast paced crowd pleasing variety show.
