Dan Ireland-Reeves’ semi-autobiographical Sauna Boy pulls back the shower curtain at a famous London gay sauna revealing a LBGTQIA+ societal mass of grinding, pounding and writhing queer culture reality. People enter this steaming microcosm to relax, socialise and most important of all, to…

The story is gritty, tough, emotional, romantic and very funny – rather like Ireland-Reeves himself. This is a performer who has dug deep into his soul to deliver hard gob-smacking truths. It’s true to say that Ireland-Reeves gives an energetic, emotional bravura performance! He presents the audience with a myriad of highly memorable characters by switching voices and physical poses at lightning speed. In fact the whole 70 minutes seem to be at warp-drive, so concentrated and precise is Ireland-Reeves’ performance.

Sound and lighting add brilliantly to the atmosphere as does the venue, The Warehouse Theatre.

Gays should not miss this; Hetrosexuals may or may not enjoy it; Homophobes should probably stay away. But any lover of a true theatrical experience needs to see this perfect example of a lifestyle.
