Onyx Productions was established by director, producer, and percussion extraordinaire, Gene Peterson in 2011. Nurturing talent through workshops, this company has wowed audiences the world over and we are lucky to have them back at the Adelaide Fringe.

This circus takes place under the big top, an enormous performing space called “The Peacock” in Gluttony. If you are after traditional circus vibes, then this show is not for you; however, if you are in search of high-octane fun with a contemporary feel, then you will not be disappointed. Director Peterson has gathered a troupe of fantastic performers to wake the audience with their talents.

The performers gain your attention immediately with a live soundtrack provided by Peterson on drums and keyboard and a world renowned looper behind the DJ desk with a stunning voice. Beats were felt through the floor as we witnessed artistry in the form of acrobatics, breakdancing, gravity-defying stunts with the Cyr wheel, juggling of basketballs and BMX tricks. Complimented by video projections and slapstick humour, the audience were very much a part of the show.

Lighting design was stunning and added to the excitement of a well-oiled performance. A beam of light forming a circle centre stage provided a hilarious choreographed sequence and was a highlight. The energy displayed did not wain for the entire hour and was only matched by the excitement of the audience.

This show is thrilling and creative in its execution. With performances scheduled for early evenings, it is a perfect family outing for all ages.
