Piers Mackenzie takes us on a journey full of twists, turns and detours in this striking one-person show which invites us to follow Deliveroo driver Benny on an unpredictable bike ride which delivers a lot more than just a meal. Entering the theatre, the audience is greeted by Mackenzie’s on-stage presence, inviting us to immerse ourselves in the story from the moment we reach their seats. His performance is full of character: many characters in fact, as he seamlessly shifts from one to the next, without any confusion as to who he plays at any moment. What starts as a light comedic story quickly shifts into something darker; not at all what it first appears to be. Revealing a strong message around mental health, isolation and the need for connection, Benny searches not only for his delivery address, but for deeper relationships with the people around him. Courier is a gripping story which lingers; confronting and vulnerable, while leaving plenty of room for a good laugh. Courier, The Mill – Angas St, until Saturday 8 March, times vary.
