Warning: MARVELous The Show features flashing strobe lights. If you are sensitive to such visuals, it'd be advised to proceed with caution.

Firstly, a big thanks to the Adelaide Fringe for the media pass to cover the season! Making our way to Gluttony, the Marvel Cinematic Universe was transformed into a burlesque performance in MARVELous The Show!

The creative team clearly has a lot of love and passion for the MCU, as they incorporated a lot of characterisations that felt true to the iconic heroes while also bringing in niche jokes and famous memes. The aerial performances were also very clever and impressive to watch, and the dancing and stunts were a lot of fun. Of course, there are plenty of risqué elements, with strategically placed arc reactors and vibranium Cap shields. Is this what the haters are talking about when referencing the M-She-U?

On paper, having Deadpool as the raunchy ringleader that'd talk to the audience in between the performances is a hilarious idea. However, a vast majority of his dialogue and singing were very difficult to hear, as the mask covered both his mouth and microphone. It also didn't help that the mask's material would also rub against the microphone, creating a mushy mesh sound.

It would've especially been terrific to have heard the Tony Stark-themed Hamilton parody, but alas, not to be, apparently. There's a chance that sitting towards the front row might improve the audio, but there should've been another solution to work around this obstacle. Is it ironic that you couldn't hear the Merc with the Mouth?

Despite the audio problems, MARVELous The Show was a wonderfully crafted and cheeky love letter to the MCU, featuring very impressive stunts and witty humour. If you're a fan of the Marvel franchise or burlesque shows, then I'd say MARVELous The Show should be added to your Fringe planner!
