So Fresh! Hits of the 2000s ★★★★★

Back again for another stellar Adelaide Fringe run are home grown talents from The Cast Entertainment, with their sensational show So Fresh! Hits of the 2000s. This production brings to life arguably one of the greatest decades in music, the noughties of course!

Before we had the word ‘Spotify’ to our vocab was, every millennial had a So Fresh CD stashed somewhere, whether it be in their Discman, car stereo or CD folder. They truly were the best CDs to own as they contained hit after hit, from Britney Spears to Usher, Snoop Dogg to Beyonce, and Nelly to Darude, it was all there – with no need to make a playlist. So Fresh! Hits of the 2000s is a tribute to this bygone decade, where ties were worn with tank tops and cargo pants and everyone was a teenage dirtbag!

The production is fronted by Chloe Castledine and Josh Angeles on vocals. We are also treated to a magnificent four piece band as well as four captivating and highly energetic dancers. Everything about this production is slick and well-polished – the vocals, the dancers, the band, the costumes, the set list, I could go on. This show truly has it all. There’s even a dedicated dance floor area near the stage, where much of the audience spent the entire show dancing away to the non-stop music that was simply hit after glorious hit – on a school night as well!

Castledine’s vocals were impeccable, she is seamlessly able to transition from big vocal numbers like “Lady Marmalade” and “Bring me to Life” by Evanescence to more softer and subdued songs like Coldplay’s “Yellow”, and throw in some Eminem just for good measure to show us she’s stupidly talented! Angeles vocals perfectly suited the Justin Timberlake and Usher numbers, as well as Nelly and Snoop Dogg.

This show is an Adelaide Fringe highlight – it is easy to see why it was a Fringe Winner in 2024. If you haven’t seen them already, put in those butterfly hairclips and make sure you check them out (you won’t be disappointed), and if you have seen them, go see them again – you already know you are guaranteed a good time! So Fresh! Hits of the 2000s are playing at The May Wirth in Gluttony until 9 March 2025.
