Any fans of Elton John will need to add this particular tribute show to their list for this Fringe. With experience spanning from the West End to cruise ships to international tours, these three male vocalists, using a combination of live piano and backing tracks, more than do justice to Sir Elton John’s incredible catalogue of hits in This One’s For You — A Tribute To Sir Elton John. Their harmonies add a richness to the iconic melodies crafted by Sir Elton, particularly in the gorgeous ballad Your Song, featuring Rob West on keys. Though their voices are each unique, they all suit Sir Elton’s music to a tee.

The show had hit after hit, including numbers from across Sir Elton’s career, which had the small but very appreciative audience dancing in the aisles. Crocodile Rock, Tiny Dancer (showcasing a falsetto so pure it will leave you weak at the knees), Candle in The Wind, I’m Still Standing, and Rocket Man were just a few of the numbers on the set list. Proving these performers are instrumentalists as well as vocalists, Bitch is Back featured all three of them on the piano at the same time!

It wouldn’t be an Elton John show without spectacular glasses, a costume change, and at least one appearance of a feather boa, and the audience was treated to several matching outfits to go with the boy band-esque choreography and endless energy of the performers.

The only thing that was a slight let-down in this performance was the quality of the audio. The mix was much too loud for such a small venue, and often muddied the otherwise brilliant harmonies or the backing tracks drowned out the vocalists all together. Hopefully this is something that will be remedied for the remainder of the season, because this energetic show performed by three incredible performers is something that should not be missed.
