This show could keep going past the assigned hour and you wouldn’t even realise it. Garry Starr – Classic Penguins is just pure mayhem and chaos… literature-ly. When you see a Garry Starr show there’s always, and I mean always an element of unpredictability. You have no idea what will happen from the minute you walk into the venue. Sitting in a lounge chair with his back to the crowd smoking a pipe, the intrigue starts from go and doesn’t end until WOAH!

Starr takes us on a crazy ride narrating in his unique and frantic style, that only he can get away with, every Penguin Classic novel ever written. All the greats; The Great Escape, Frankenstein, Moby Dick, Little Women and many, many more. They’re all there and Starr like a genius, weaves each title into an outrageous story that can only be described as Starr-afied.

Somehow, he makes the most awkward of skits seem so normal. You may not drink tomato juice in the same way or food fights might not be associated with fun anymore or using the term ‘bare it all’ might give you unsettled flashbacks of this show. There are so many moments of shock and squirm hilarity that will be etched into your psyche for a long time after!

Classic Penguins is like a Choose Your Own Penguins Classics Book Adventure only in real life. Expect audience participation (the more energised the audience the bigger the laughs), nudity (you have been warned), uncontrollable laughs (you may need tissues from laughing so much) and everything weird and wacky that only Garry Starr can get away with!
