YOAH is Japanese circus at its absolute best. This stunning show combines breathtaking aerials, mind-blowing contortion, and next-level acrobatics with a dramatic soundtrack of traditional Japanese sounds and electronic beats. The lighting and effects (huge round of applause to the tech team) turn the performance into a total visual masterpiece, with shadows and smoke making the cast seem to disappear and reappear like magic.
The diabolo acts are a standout, featured often throughout the show, each time building on the last and adding to the wow factor. Just when you think you’ve seen it all, they push the limits even further. It’s family-friendly, though it might be a bit full-on for very young ones. That said, my 5- and 7-year-old absolutely loved it! With seamless transitions, clever staging, and jaw-dropping moments, YOAH is a must-see at the Adelaide Fringe.
