After a sell-out season in 2024, LIMBO is back at The Garden of Unearthly Delights for the 2025 Adelaide Fringe. With their aptly named show, LIMBO – The Return, this isn’t a quiet return either. They’re not discreetly slipping in. LIMBO has returned in a loud and visually spectacular fashion befitting of its headliner status.
LIMBO is fun. It’s sexy, dangerous, surprising, and awesome too, but mainly it’s a good, fun show. With everything from beatboxing to fire eating, and tap-dancing to whip cracking, if you can’t find something in this show to delight or enthrall you, well, perhaps Fringe-time just isn’t for you (be patient, the vroom vrooms are coming soon).
Blasting through the much-loved Spiegeltent (loved for its charm but not comfort) the musical creativity is just as impressive as the visual extravaganza. The quality of the music and the way in which these musicians produce it live is quite a feat to witness. Reminiscent of Rammstein and Nine Inch Nails, but with a style all their own, and they love doing it.
I had thought that there was no plot, or narrative, until a fellow audience member explained it to me after the show. Turns out there is a narrative, it’s just quite weak and easy to miss. To me though, this didn’t distract from the performance. Audiences for LIMBO come to be amazed, and there was no shortage of amazing content.
Having not seen LIMBO in previous years, I can’t comment on how much of the content is new. But I can say that as a first-time viewer, I loved it, and can see why it’s received the attention it has.
LIMBO owns its billing as one of the Garden’s headline acts in 2025, and with a plethora of circus-inspired shows in this year’s Fringe program, LIMBO holds its own as one of the best. It’s a must-see for fans of the genre.
