We need to talk about the elephant in the room! That elephant's name is Sawdust and is brought to big, brilliant, puppeteering life by the folks at Grayboy Entertainment. Along with a crazy cast of ‘circus gothic’ characters, they’ve created a spectacular show that caters to kids and adults alike with tricks and stunts you’ve never seen before. Led by a quirky ringmaster with the voice of an angel, we were treated to amazing feats of strength and high-flying silk aerial displays that left the audience squirming in their chairs. Unicycle riding and an extraordinary balancing act also left us holding our breath. And all the while the baby elephant Sawdust, puppeteered by the remarkable Kyle Snow, lumbered, jumped and danced about the stage bringing squeals of delight to the children in the crowd, while some in the front row looked on aghast. What I particularly loved about this show is that it’s fun for everyone of all ages. Although you may have seen a juggling act before, have you ever seen juggling with a chainsaw? This reviewer certainly hasn’t. I wasn’t sure whether to cover my eyes, just in case the act went wrong, or look at the astonishing display of technical skill happening in front of me. With the delightful ringmaster singing songs between each act, we were introduced to Sawdust with a beautiful rendition of Willie Wonka’s ‘World of Imagination’ and as the show craziness ramped up Pink’s ‘Funhouse’ was then performed (by human and elephant) with joyous vigour. The performers' enthusiasm could be felt throughout the audience and the tight forty-five-minute show was an absolute blast from start to finish, never overstaying its welcome. Fun, funny and fast-paced: Sawdust, the Elephant and the Show is one you’ll never forget! **** 1/2
