This delightful group of four young ladies put on a great, energetic show, and it was blatantly obvious that they were having a wow of a time! The did reveal that because of our beloved COVID they weren’t able to train either together or in the gym. Given that, I was quite happy to excuse the mistakes, which did not detract from the performance.
Some of the amazing gymnastics being performed were probably made a lot more difficult (and dangerous) as the sun was setting and shining right in their eyes when on the left of the stage. As mentioned above, it is an outdoor event, so if you have a chrome-dome like me – don’t forget your hat!! I did, and am paying for it today L.
In between the afore-mentioned acrobatics – which included flying off a see-saw, diving through hoops, juggling and multi-hula-hoop antics and displays of balance and strength – the young ladies revealed information about themselves and the main purpose of their show.
There was a strong theme of empowering women and revealing some startling facts in relation to this – such as:
§ for every female employed, I think it was 2.3 males are employed!
§ In some countries, once girls reach a certain age they are not allowed to sing unless there are no males present – so male music teachers are not even allowed to teach girls singing!
I commend one of the girls who revealed her diagnosis of anxiety and tearfully outlined the journey into getting help and treatment. She urged anyone to seek help and not feel ashamed in reaching out. Very moving and very brave – well done!
Overall, it was a delightful show – yes, a few mistakes, but they will get better with every performance. Go along and support them and be well entertained. Like me, you will likely come out with a smile on your face. Stick around and buy some of their merchandise – they donate all proceeds to ovarian cancer research.
