Embrace your inner nerd
This past week, I went to a Fringe show and learned something about physics. No, really. And what's more, the delivery was lovely, creative and even funny. Rachel Raynor radiates passion when she brings the audience along for a romp through the electromagnetic spectrum in her show A Flying Photon. She is a Science Explainer and I would place bets that if she happened to be your first-year physics lecturer, you would be seriously thanking your lucky stars. Physicists, well at least the ones I know, generally don't venture towards the arts and you wouldn't think to find one among the Fringe performers, however, Rachel gives us something special. She shows how science can merge with theatre and poetry to offer information and entertainment at the same time. This show brought us on a stellar journey using gorgeous astrophotography and images of the Milky Way and Crab Nebula. Rachel's vast knowledge of light was as solid as her performance.
