Everytime we see one of the South Australian Children’s Ballet (SACBC) performances we are blown away by the emerging talent that Adelaide offers. Their shows get better and better each year and we thoroughly enjoyed ‘Cinderella, The Untold Story’.

This is the second time in the last few years that SACBC have staged ‘Cinderella, The Untold Story’ and to their credit – we noticed that dancers that we saw in minor roles a few years ago have improved and moved into lead roles, which is testament to the company and the training that it offers.

For those who are new to this particular version of Cinderella, it’s not the story you are probably used to! Be prepared to meet lots of familiar fairytale characters as they join Cinderella at the Ball and watch her quest to find true love – will it be with Prince Charming? You’ll have to go along to find out!

Speaking of Prince Charming, this role (played by Bundjalung Coker) was a stand out for us, along with Brady Leong, playing the dual roles of The Big Bad Wolf and Russ The Candlestick Maker. In both dancers, their technique was a delight to watch, particularly in Coker’s fouettes and Leong’s leaps.

The technique and performance was tight throughout in all performers – it was lovely to watch our two little eight year old ballerinas watching the dancers onstage in awe and admiration.

The show was a tight 50 minutes, started on time and had a quick meet and greet with the dancers afterwards. I’d recommend this for ages 4 and up, or possibly even younger if your child can sit still for nearly an hour.
